Berkeley West Branch Library

The new building replaces the old substandard library, doubling the size to better serve the neighborhood and to create a civic presence along University Avenue. Site improvements include a landscaped entry plaza and sidewalk, full accessibility, a courtyard viewing garden with a specimen Cork Oak tree, seating, bicycle parking, and runoff-filtering exterior planters. It is designed as a Zero Net Energy building and is certified LEED Platinum. The building opened in late 2013.
