Walnut Creek, Creeks Restoration & Trails Master Plan

JNRA directed a multidisciplinary long-range plan for a 2-1/2 mile creek corridor and creekside trail through downtown Walnut Creek. The plan aims to restore natural creek habitat for fish and wildlife, mitigate flooding, and safely integrate the creek into the city’s urban design structure along a trail linking downtown, commercial areas, and neighbourhoods. A native butterfly garden marks the beginning of the downtown trail. The first phase implementation in Civic Park included creek and upland habitat restoration, trails, and Urban Creek Design Guidelines applicable to future projects.
