Narsai David Courtyard Berkeley Repertory Theater

Berkeley Repertory Theater’s 600-seat RODA Theater was built next to the original 400-seat theater and linked to it by the landscaped Narsai David Courtyard. Both buildings open directly to this intimate, sunny, and inviting urban space. The courtyard was designed by John Northmore Roberts & Associates in association with ELS Architects for flexible use by the staff and actors during the day, to support the new ticket office, and for the interaction of theater patrons attending performances. The courtyard, paved in brick and color-stained concrete, connects with Addison Street and the Downtown Arts District through three pairs of specially commissioned gates created by a local metal artist. The new Berkeley Repertory Theater complex is the anchor for the Addison Street Arts District.
